After all those years in Texas, I deserve to encounter this when out walking in my neighborhood.  I did my time in Bush country.

Santa Barbara

Last Saturday I spent the day in Santa Barbara with my friend Hope at a photography workshop.  It wasn't particularly well-run or informative, but we enjoyed ourselves anyway.  And we have a pretty funny story about nearly missing the train, getting yelled at by the conductor and finally making friends with the quirky assistant conductor.

If you couldn't tell, my favorite part was playing around with Hope's new macro lens.  Something to add to my wish list.

I have never before experienced anything even remotely close to the view from Machupicchu at dawn.  I am in complete awe at the wonder of nature.

The new apartment is about 85-90% set up.  We haven't put up pictures yet (or arranged other decor items) and I have a couple of shelves to go over my desk/bookcase area that need to be installed.  Also I still need to buy a desk chair (I'm lusting over this one, but feeling a bit foolish about spending over $1k on a desk chair).  And we need to decide what to do about a coffee table.  Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of the living area of the new place.  I feel like it is going to end up being a very comfortable space.

fitter happier more productive

I've spent the last couple of weeks thinking about one of my favorite Radiohead lyrics and doing my best to typographically bring it to life.  Then today I stumbled upon a website that took it a whole other direction for me.  If you enjoy visual representations of type, I strongly suggest you run (don't walk) over to Wordle and start generating pictures from your favorite song lyrics, poems, quotes, etc.

I'm sure that a lot of people just happen to have view of the headquarters of Flint Publications out of their living room windows, non? Yeah, I love LA. The "Flint Publications" on the top of the building lights up at night.

New photo album link to the amazing tulip festival that mom and I went to in Utah last week. Check the right hand column already!

Picasa Me!

As you can see, the Picasa web album feature is now working. A wonderful development. No need to set up a flickr account! The Picasa web album set up is fairly user friendly. Once you've set up an album in Picasa2, there is an option to create a Web Album. Once a public Web Album is created, there is an option to link to that album. Copy the code and add it as an element in Blogger (under Layout) and voila! Linked in Web Albums! Cool beans.

My first two linked albums are (1) photos taken on a clear day in my neighborhood (super zoom feature for the Mount Baldy photo) and (2) some pictures of glass balls that hang throughout my house. I heart my new camera.
