(reality tv-related image to follow)

For any Top Chef fans who come by this page.  It is scary how funny I found this Carla Fraggle GIF.  Courtesy of Eater LA.  Apparently I am mentally quite a bit younger than my 39 (!!) years.

And happy birthday to me.

has she considered any films involving scary clowns?

Since I stopped working last May, there are some websites that I've been neglecting.  When I was a bored worker bee, I spent much more time perusing The Superficial and Go Fug Yourself than I do these days.  Today I was inspired to check in at Go Fug Yourself for the first time in a month or two, and I was rewarded with this phenomenal post comparing Kate Winslet to Susan Lucci with respect to awards snubs.  Pure genius to this former All My Children addict.

So You Think You Can Blog

I haven't been avoiding you, I just don't have much to say right now. I have several trips (possibly) coming up and the uncertainty of my schedule right now has me in a state of confusion. Also I may be in a rut because all my favorite stupid reality tv shows seem to be on hiatus at the same damn time.* When my schedule works itself out and my tv starts making me happy once again, I'll be back around.

*Thank god for Real World/Road Rules Challenge. The only show that hasn't let me down here.

Come Aboard, We're Expecting You

I'm throwing a party with my friends in Dallas. When I lived there, we used to have random costume parties at least once a year and they were always a blast, so on my last trip back we sketched out the idea for a 1970's tv show themed party. We've set the date and Mike and I just bought our tickets to Dallas, so it seems to be a go. Now I need to start thinking about a costume. My front-runners so far:
  • Vera or Flo from Alice
  • Laverne
  • Julie McCoy from The Love Boat (complete with little mirror and fake coke lines)

I'm disappointed to learn that The Jetsons was a 1960's tv show because I totally could have rocked either Jane or Judy Jetson. Anyone want to contribute other ideas? A lot of the shows would require group costumes, and my best bet for that is me and one of my gay friends in Dallas (we both lament the fact we've never won a Best Costume prize, so we might pair up). Not exactly helpful for Charlie's Angels or Three's Company. Help a girl out...
